Kid Turbo - GReddy eManage

eManage Your Assets. Piggyback unit and much, much more

GReddy's eManage Unit
The GReddy eManage Unit
First off, I'd like to thank the many of you who have written me in the past few months. Although I don't have the time to answer all your emails and letters individually, I try to incorporate your most popular questions into future articles. I've noticed that a lot of you have asked me to write an article or two about more advanced mods. So, for those of you who have already maxed out all your plastic by bolting on just about everything that'll fit under your hood, today's article is about the eManage, a nifty engine management from the engineering brainiacs at GReddy.

The eManage is a programmable fuel management computer that piggybacks on your car's existing ECU (Electronic Control Unit - your car's "brain"). Because it works in conjunction with the factory ECU, it's pretty cheap compared to "stand-alone" aftermarket ECUs. Before I get into the nuts and bolts about what it does and how it helps your ride, a couple of warnings.
First, be sure to buy your eManage from an authorized GReddy dealer. If you call in for warranty service or tech support, GReddy won't give you the time of day unless you bought it from an authorized dealer. Also, be sure to have it installed by an authorized GReddy dealer. So there.

The eManage is truly a cool little blue box: really a litle big box that seemingly does everything. It adjusts fuel flow at the injectors at up to 5 different RPM points. It lets you adjust the VTEC shift point on Hondas and Acuras. It allows you to see how much fuel and air your engine is using. It lets you adjust ignition timing. Basically, it does just about everything but wash your laundry and wipe your ass. Best of all, it helps you break through the performance envelope imposed by your stock ECU. In order to tap into its full potential, you should also get the GReddy E-01 Programmer, which provides access to most of the more advanced features. How advanced? How about being able to finely adjust sub-injectors and map-trace your fuel use in real time?

As you might have guessed, this little gem ain't for the faint of heart. You wouldn't want to put this into Mom and Dad's Accord wagon (unless, of course, you have cool 'rents like me who have an Accord wagon with an H22 swap and NOS)! If you've done some serious mods to your ride, you probably will want to get the eManage in order to optimize your fuel flow to take advantage of them.

Then, if you want to really get into it, GReddy also offers the GReddy eManage Programmer. It allows even more customizable settings, especially for VTEC engines.

So, are you ready to put down your wrench and get in touch with your inner geek? Then call the friendly folks at Sport Compact Only and tell them about your ride. They'll be able to help you decide whether to go with the eManage, a "stand-alone" aftermarket ECU, or install other mods first.
